Home Learning

  • READING – There is an expectation that children read to an adult at least 5 times per week. An adult should sign their child’s reading diary to reflect this.
  • LIBRARY BOOKS – These are changed on a Tuesday.
  • SPELLING – A spelling booklet with ‘Tricky Words’ can be found in the spelling overview section of this page. Your child should also have a paper copy, these are learnt in class and at home and tested randomly on a Friday. Spelling strategies are taught in class lists are set on a weekly basis to practice these strategies and learn the key words. They are set on a Friday and a test is carried out the following Friday.
  • MENTAL ARITHMETIC – A school log-in is provided for every child for Times Table Rock Stars and Numbots. This should be accessed at least 5 times per week.
  • PURPLE MASH – Purple Mash supports class learning. Computing skills are used as a vehicle for a range of cross curricular tasks. ‘To Do’s’ are set for children by the class teacher. Individual Purple Mash log-ins can be found in children’s Reading Diaries or Home Learning Books.
  • HOME LEARNING GRIDS – These are set on the first Friday of each half-term and should be returned to school on the last Monday of the half-term. These are relevant for the topic the children are covering in class. There are a range of different activities/tasks to choose from, which meet the needs of all different types of learner’ interests. There is an expectation that children will complete a minimum of 3 tasks during the half term. The tasks are shared with the class teacher and presented to the class during the last week of the half term. (These can be found below, a paper copy is also available in your child’s Home Learning Book)
